I am off on my way to a much needed vacation. With three weddings this weekend all in a row, I would say it's much needed:) Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what I do! I wanted to post some photos from our Sunday wedding before we leave! I think three in a row is a first for us, and although it was a whirlwind of weddings, none were less important or less unique than each other.

This past Sunday was absolutely beautiful and filled with calm, joy, and just plain fun! Alaina was breathtaking, beautiful, and so laid back about her day. Rodrigo and his boys made us feel like a part of his family. This ceremony was so charming, I still get chills just thinking about it. Rodrigo kept his eyes closed from the moment the last bridesmaid walked down, while he waited for his bride to stand next to him, he savored that moment before he opened them back up. It was precious, savoring joy and every moment. She surprised him with a song, and when she was done, he surprised her back with his own song. I had to try my best not to let the tears flow that had welled up in my own eyes. They spoke of getting old, appreciating the wrinkles of time, and when things were to get rough, as life goes, they would be strong for each other.

There wasn't a dry eye in the room. These two were made for each other. The rest of the day played out, I felt honored to not only photograph their wedding, but to feel so apart of both of their families! Thank you Alaina and Rodrigo! You two are why I enjoy what I do! Happy viewing! I will be back in town next week......

Hello Everyone! We have been sooo busy with weddings and no time to blog! Now we are taking a trip down south, so before we go I wanted to post some pics from our last wedding of our busy weekend!

Remember the wedding on February 14th, Andy and Krista? Well, I do....it was fun and their family was warm and welcoming. We had a cold day for shooting, but it was anything but cold as far as the wedding went. Andy's sister Mary got married this past Saturday in Ann Arbor. And guess who got to shoot it? We did!! It was like shooting your own family's wedding.....familiar faces, warm spaces, and guess who was in the bridal party? Andy and Krista! So, here are a few pics from the 2000 we shot. Yes, 2000....I don't know how it even happens:)! Below is a shot of the four of us that they wanted to take....Enjoy all!

Finding our light. Our fire. What makes us passionate and feel good? What makes me want for more? What makes our day better? What makes me love what I do? What brought me back to why I started this "photography thing that I love to so do".

April 2nd, 2009. The first workshop I attended in Chicago with yours truly, the infamous Joe Buissink. A wonderful man, a wonderous photographer himself who reminded me that I just need to be, well, me!

Seems rather simple, doesn't it? I started photography as a "business" because I loved capturing those moments when people were just being people. I am one of the lucky ones because I get paid for documenting memories. We all tend to get caught up in this thing we call life. In a faltering economy and competing photographers, I was reminded that it wasn't who was better or faster. But it was about if you brought your fire, your passion, your ever present self with you when you shot. I was quickly reminded to pause, look around, and bring photography back to it's basic. I was reminded of my own fire within. Thank you to Joe. For he is simply one of complete humbleness and inspiration!

So here are a few images from our wedding in Illinois. The wedding was a blast! Moree and Bud were so happy and easy to work with. Moree was a classmate of mine and I haven't seen her since graduation day! She is one of the nicest people and hasn't changed one bit! Thank you Moree and Bud for letting us be a part of such a wonderful day! And guess who showed up last minute? A long time friend and former boss of mine, Mark Meravy! Now I know you probably do not know who that is. But, you will in the future because he is getting ready to bust out his own business full speed. The thing about a blog is you have to keep writing on it. That's the part that I am not so good at keeping up with. As you can see:) So, I am a slacker in this blog department, and that's OK. As long as you don't mind, the rest of the world will move along just fine I suppose as well!
So here we are, March 10th already. So much to post and I am motivated to show you. Here are a few from my sister's visit up here in Grand Haven. I did a shoot for my nephew in the bitter cold and he was quite a sport. Either that or he is cold blooded:)
This shot of the three of us is where the "grown ups", as we are called anyway, were laughing so hard at an inside joke, poor Evan. Grown ups are just so embarrassing. Or so I hear anyway.

We are getting ready to leave for Chicago today. A friend and old classmate who I found on facebook is getting married tomorrow. We are the lucky ones to photograph her wedding which is set just south of Chicago about an hour or so. What is exciting about this wedding is not only have I not seen this classmate since I graduated, which seems like forever ago because it is, but she is getting married in a place that I know so well. Starved Rock State Park in Ottawa, Illinois. I cannot wait for this wedding and mini-reunion of sorts! I will post some images when I return! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Our first wedding of the year just happened to be on the weekend of Valentines Day. Love was in the air all around. People you would meet in passing would be a little happier, a little shinier, a little kinder. It just happened that on Valentines Day, we had the opportunity to shoot Krista and Andrew. A couple that had been together almost ten years before tying the knot. Ten years?! Yes. Ten. They were an absolute joy to shoot. They had such respect and admiration for each other. This was a couple that you could truly tell were in it not for the wedding itself, but rather, for the marriage. So secure. So timeless. So wonderous. Below are a few shots taken from that day.
